This song begins with a guitar soundscape that portrays three things: The drone of the orchestra warming up, Darien's heartbeat and Darien's breathing. There is looming feeling that something very dramatic is about to happen. The beginning of the music signifies the appearance of the angelic visitation.
Riding The Crescendo encapsulates two things. The first being Darien's orchestral performance of his symphony by the same name. The second being the week long fanfare surrounding his performances. This song is LOADED with classical themes and movements presented as a hard driving juggernaut.
Two Nights By Eagle's Flight is performed as solo guitar arrangement with some bass accompaniment to capture the sudden feeling of loneliness, loss and isolation that Darien felt as he soared through the night sky on the cargo plane.
The melancholy mood of the Gravestone Key portrays the death of Darien's hopes and dreams that and the life that he worked so hard to attain through his musical pursuits as he stared at the gravestone memorial. All seemed to be lost when suddenly his eyes are opened to an ancient key hiding within the gravestone itself.
The opening movement of this, the title track, begins very hauntingly and mysteriously as Darien and Clarissa began searching through the old, abandoned cathedral. The music suddenly gives way to an air of triumph as they make their discovery and the endless possibilities that come with it. The solo breakdown 2/3 of the way through signifies Darien's filling and empowering of God's Spirit. The music builds to an even greater triumphant climax as Darien realizes he now has a new mission to go along with his discovery.
The Attic Symphony opens with layers of guitars performing the main chorus of the song that is meant to emulate a pipe organ. The main song has a joyous uplifting feel that portrays the preparation, promotion and bringing to fruition "The Catching Away Suite" to the world. There is also a romantic vibe that signifies the inevitable blossoming of romance and wedded union between Darien and Clarissa. The end of the song revisits a theme introduced in Riding The Crescendo.
The Grande Finale and definitely the most prog sounding track on the album. The music builds and builds to the effect of The Trump Of God blaring from the four corners of the globe as The Catching Away takes place. The big epic guitar solo for Face To Face is, I feel, one of my best ever solos. A fitting way to end the album. The final strains, once again, end with the theme from Riding The Crescendo.
